Taiwan is a great place for photography

During this early May, our member Yee Foo Ming and his trusty camera went on a 7 days trek to the 'heart of Asia' Taiwan.

Taiwan is a great place for photography. Be it the rural farmlands, urban skyscrapers or endless waves crashing onto the peaceful beaches facing different oceans, there will be something for you. During my 2 weeks there, my friends and I had travelled by their various mode of transport. Namely high speed railway (Taiwan Highspeed Railway THSR), normal railway (Taiwan Railway Administration TRA), train (Kaoshiung Rapid Transit Corporation – KRTC, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation - TRTC), cab and if you are brave enough, self drive. Although Taiwan is left hand drive and international driving license is needed, the time saved from travelling is still worthwhile.

At Kenting, the most southern part of Taiwan, we travelled to the mountains and remote locations made possible only by car. Afterwhich, we travelled by train to Meishan located near Alishan, for its sour plums, mountains and waterfall. Repairs are still ongoing, years after 88 typhoon (Typhoon Morakot).

We drove to Ji Ji, which was the earthquake epic centre before making our way to Sun Moon Lake. The ferry tickets are half price if purchased the day before and we ferried around the 3 sites for walkabout and sightseeing. Following which, we continued ea [...]

Calendar Project & Competition

Base on the theme "inclusively" the club members gathered their creativity to produce a table top calender.

"Inclusively"

In tune with our labor movement vision for a better and more meaningful life where working people of all collars, all ages, and all nationalities can live, work and play together in Singapore.

The project concluded on a high note with an official launch event. Many members stayed behind after the launch to get their very own autographed copy of the limited editing table top calendar.   (Likely to be a collectors item soon ;)

About Young NTUC

Young NTUC is the youth wing of the National Trades Union Congress. Catering to working people below 35 years old, Young NTUC currently has about 150,000 members. Working people today know what they want and how to help themselves. So does that mean that unions have outlived our usefulness? Young NTUC does not think so. Over the years, we have found relevance for our members to identify with, and no, none of these involve mercantile benefits. Our activists join us because they want to make a difference. Making a difference be they to themselves, their families, society or the world, we give them the platform. Creating Team Young NTUC fulfills one of these dreams. Through this platform, our members can now help make the world a better place to live in, one programme at a time. For more information, please visit www.youngntuc.org.sg

About Team Young NTUC 20/20

Since 2007 Team Young NTUC 20/20 photography club looks at equipping our members with professional photography skills. It does not matter how advanced you are in photography, so long as you have the passion, we will have a way to level up your skills. Trained by Alex Siew, an internationally-rated professional photographer, you will be able to assess paid assignments once you have graduated from the courses. Like all Team Young NTUC groups, 20/20 is a photography group with a difference. We do not aim to make you a commercially successful photographer. We train you so that you can pursue your passion and then use your honed skills to contribute to society.
